This is the month of raya, but on television it becomes the week of ghost stories n movies, almost every night. I do ask myself why there are a lot of movies on ghost and the supernatural once fasting month is over... Hmm, maybe it’s just an attraction so that people would stay home and watch, or just to scare the kids from going out 'beraya' (don't mind this, can save some duit raya...hehehe).
Well, the value of how interesting raya is for kids are now being measured on the amount of duit raya received. It is totally different when it was my time, even 10 cents or 20 cents was consider a lot, now RM 1.00 or 2.00 is the minimum standard, maybe in 5 years time, it will be more than that. And it is not about visiting the neighbors anymore. What is the fun in that if you can't collect some money in the process? Maybe our future generation is becoming a materialistic society, perhaps..
Back to the discussion of raya vs. ghosts, we will never know the real reason for the showing of ghosts and supernatural movies or drama, believe me, some of them are not that scary, its just show how much we managed to save from watching the movies in the cinema, not worth the trip..... Anyway, its raya, so I do wish all to have fun visiting our relatives n friends during this raya festive. - Peace -
