Memory lane...

"A moment lasts all of a second, but the memory lives on forever" (www.buzzle.com)

I was brought down memory lane two days ago when my father said that in Terengganu there's a stall selling "Murtabak Maggie". Many people may heard of such delicacy other may raised their eyebrows (Ziana Zain style). I was introduced to "Murtabak Maggie" 12 years ago, by my dorm mate, Arnida Hani, she even taught me how to prepare it. The simplicity of the ingredients with a quite delicious outcome. All the sudden I remembered the fasting months that I spend with my dorm mates during my matrix years, the food that I learnt to prepare and cook with limited ingredients as well as utensil. I learnt to use the rice cooker to cook "Nasi goreng Sardin", "Tomyam" "Steamboat", "Murtabak Maggie" and even fried fish and eggs, the water heater was used to boil eggs, and the most interesting thing was using the iron to make toast.

Back then, creativity has no limits when it came to experimenting with food. I guess being not financially secure for most of us, and having to rely only on scholarship with RM 600.00 (as wang sara diri) per semester, a small budget for books, assignments, travel and food, we learn to adapt and make the best of everything and create unforgettable memories.

It's my first post after taking time out, and I am talking about food. Hehehehe. Happy fasting everyone.
